Lip Blush

Lip Blush is a form of permanent makeup that enhances the beauty of the natural lip color and gives the definition and the illusion of fullness. It improves the shape of the lips and can help to correct the asymmetry, conceal scarring or balance two-toned lips. This treatment is provided by depositing pigment into the lips, which builds layers of color using a special permanent make up machine pen. This technique delivers very natural results once healed. Tinted lips do not impact your ability to wear lipstick, and it can fully be covered whenever you want. This technique is so soft, people will be wondering what lip product gives you such a balanced look!

Precare

We recommend the following to ensure that your skin is in the best condition as possible for the procedure:

  • Exfoliate lips 24 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Keep lips moisturized by applying lip balm daily prior to your appointment.

  • If your appointment is during a cold sore outbreak, your procedure cannot be performed. If you have a history of cold sores, it is highly recommended for you to go to your family doctor and get anti-viral medication. Lip blush can trigger cold sores if you are a carrier of this virus and it will affect the healing result.

  • Do not get lip injections or any injections around the lip area 4-6 weeks before and after this treatment. All injections must be 4-6 weeks apart.

  • Do not consume any caffeine or alcohol 24 hours before the procedure.

  • Chemical peels, laser treatments or other facial treatments should be avoided within 4 weeks of the procedure.

  • Do not work out on the day of the procedure.

  • Bring Lip colors you use the most for the color references.

  • Come a week before or after your menstrual cycle for less discomfort.

  • Do not consume Advil, Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen, fish oil supplements, omega-3, unless medically necessary or any blood thinning mediation for a minimum of 72 hours prior to the procedure. (Tylenol or acetaminophen is okay)

  • Exfoliators, creams containing Glycolic Acid, Retin-A, Renova, and Alpha Hydroxyls Acid (AHAs) at least 72 hours before the procedure.

  • No antibiotics or steroids for 30 days before your appointment.

  • Eat before your appointment, don’t come in hungry so you feel more relaxed.

  • Bring a light sweater or blanket if you get cold easily.

This is what you might expect during the healing phase:

Right After

Lips will be swollen, feel sore and color will appear brighter and bolder. Redness around the lips can be present.

Day 1

What you see is about 50% darker, bolder and more solid than what your healed result will present. Swelling should subside by now.

Day 2

Lip will feel dry & might start cracking slightly on the surface.

Day 3
Your lips may begin to peel and the pigment may appear somewhat raised. You will see a loss of color where the scabs come off.

Day 4-6

The skin is now in the throes of rapid exfoliation and if left alone, will shed evenly. The color under the exfoliating skin will continue to appear light until the epidermis takes on its more transparent characteristics.

Day 30-40

Now is the time to critique your lips as you have had a full cycle of cellular regeneration in which the tattoo has now become part of the dermis, seen under the epidermis.

Please Note

Every individual is different, and this approximate timeline is just that, an approximate and can vary from person to person

When you leave the appointment, your lips will be intact and we will do our best to help you heal properly. Your lifestyle choices, age, genetics, and skin type will contribute to the retention of your pigment. If you use sun-beds, sunbathe, don’t use sun protection, smoke, use anti-aging creams or acidic cleansers, your eyebrows will fade faster and you’ll need to come earlier for your refresh touch ups.

Cosmetic tattoo is an art, not a science. Your results will vary and using eyebrow makeup may still be needed, especially when wearing heavy coverage makeup. This is not necessarily a no maintenance treatment, but a low maintenance treatment. No two sides of the face are the same or perfectly symmetrical and whilst trying to obtain perfect symmetry is my goal, nothing is guaranteed or 100% perfect.
